[ The compliment makes him blink in surprise, both because it’s a compliment – no one ever compliments him on anything – and because it’s coming from Tony Stark, which adds a whole other layer to the unreality of the situation. He blinks again a moment later, when Tony takes off his glasses and the world behind him swims into murky, out-of-focus swirls of color. ]

[ But it’s not bitchy and sarcastic like it once might have been. It’s a little wry, almost amused, and he doesn’t even realize that there are levels to what he means as a throwaway comment. He can live with that plan; right now, he likes that plan. And he’s absently starting to unbutton his own shirt as Tony pulls his off, starting from the bottom and working his way up. Only two buttons get undone by the time the shirt’s gone, and by then Justin’s fingers are still against his shirt.
He’s never seen the arc reactor. He didn’t even know that it existed. But there it is in bright, vibrantly glowing color, and he is as awed by it as he is fascinated. Justin reaches out to touch it without thinking about it, catching himself only just before his fingertips brush against its surface. Eyes lifting to Tony’s, he tries to sort out the multitude of things - What is it? What does it do? It’s incredible! Can I touch it? - he wants to say, aware only that he’s just seen a marvelous, amazing piece of technology and he absolutely no idea what it is or what it does. ]
